A temperature fuse consists of a sliding contact, spring, and electrically nonconductive thermal pallet. Before the temperature fuse operates, current flows from the left lead through the sliding contact and metal case to the right lead. When the external temperature reaches a specific point, the electrically nonconductive thermal pellet changes to liquid and the compression spring loosens. That is, the spring expands, and the sliding contact moves away from the left lead. The circuit opens and current stops between the sliding contact and left lead.

1Temperature fuse should be attached to the place where it is possible to easily sense temperature in case of abnormalities like temperature controller failure in electronic products, cooling fan malfunction, or overload.
2Keep in mind that there should be no damage to the lead as it may be weakened or cut off if bent at over 90˚ or repetitively, though it is made up of copper and can be easily bent.
